“FDOT keeps insisting that the public would retain control over tolls because they would agree to lock in fifty years of toll hikes pegged to inflation. Control suggests the right to make changes. Our grandchildren won’t feel any more control over toll rates knowing that it was FDOT who signed away their rights decades earlier.”

It should also be noted that, “the privatization deal would give no more control than you’d retain on your payments after signing a variable-rate mortgage. It’s a bizarre logic. You can’t tell Floridians they should agree because they’d retain control when the only control they’d have is the fact that they’d agreed to give up control.”
