Mr. Ashwell is responsible for coordinating research, policy development, coalition and media outreach, and legislative advocacy for Florida PIRG. His primary focus over the last three years has been the development of Florida PIRG’s state legislative program. In that effort he has testified on and successfully advocated for election reforms and a variety of consumer protections. He also actively serves on the steering committees of numerous coalition including: the Health CHECK coalition, the Save the Voters Voice coalition, Fair Districts Florida, the Florida Media Coalition and the Florida Voters Coalition. Mr. Ashwell is quoted regularly by news print publications and on TV and Radio media outlets throughout the state.  

Before coming to work with Florida PIRG in 2005, Mr. Ashwell worked as the Senior Research Associate for Florida Common Cause and prior to that as a program coordinator at Legal Services of North Florida. He received a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Social Science from Florida State University in 2001.
