Dear Members of the Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health:
I urge you to support legislation to fix the Food and Drug
Administration's broken system of prescription drug regulation.
Consumers need to be protected from dangerous and deadly prescription
drugs such as Vioxx and Avandia. A recent study indicated that Avandia
raises the risk of heart attacks by 30%.
Please support H.R.1561, the Enhancing Drug Safety and Innovation Act
of 2007, introduced by Reps. Waxman and Markey. The bill will reform
and refocus the FDA on its original mission of ensuring that Americans
receive safe medicines.
